We have made the tough decision to postpone the 2006 Alternative Media Festival due to the legislative changes that make this an important period of time to focus on getting a public access TV channel.  Please join our mailing list to stay informed of updates.

Original Plans: Public Access of Indianapolis? 2006 Alternative Media Festival, ?Telling Our Truths,? will be held on the IUPUI campus on July 29, 2006. The purpose of the festival is to strengthen our abilities to tell our own stories, and to learn ways we can work together to strengthen diverse and democratic media. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend.

The festival will include sessions with workshops, panel discussions, and video screenings. If you have an idea for a session, we invite to you submit a short program proposal by April 30, 2006.

As we did in 2004, we will offer a variety of packages for sponsors and donors, starting at $100, that include tickets to the Director?s Cut Reception on the evening of July 28, 2006, and recognition in the program book. We will also offer an opportunity for local organizations to participate as exhibitors during the festival.

George Stoney, cofounder of the Alternative Media Center in New York City and Paulette Goddard Professor of Film and TV at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, was the keynote speaker and conducted a hands-on video production workshop and screened his new film, GETTING OUT. The 2004 festival was expanded to included "The Director's Cut" reception at the Wheeler Arts Community, screenings of local films and videos, the Media that Matters Film Festival, and a variety of workshops on community-media related issues.
