Rules and Public Policy Committee Votes to Start Cable Franchise Renewal with Bright House Networks Print E-mail

Cable Franchise Board President, Peter Blum, speaking to the Rules and Public Policy Committee of the Indianapolis City County CouncilOn April 18, 2006, the Rules and Public Policy Committee of the Indianapolis City County Council, authorized the Cable Franchise Board to negotiate a renewal of Bright House Network's local cable franchise agreement. Despite the new statewide video franchising law that goes into effect on July 1, 2006, Bright House Networks made a surprising request to renew their local contract, which would expire in 2008, before that time.

Cable Franchise Board President, Peter Blum, presented the information and made the request to authorize renewal negotiations with both Bright House Networks, and should they be interested, Comcast. If a new contract is agreed to, the full City County Council would have to approve it.
