How much of what we think of as independent, unbiased news and information has its origins in the boardrooms of the public relations companies? Public Access of Indianapolis presents a free screening of Toxic Sludge is Good for You from the Media Education Foundation. Based on the book of the same title, the screening will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 6 PM, at the Irvington Library, 5625 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. (Download flyer)

Comcast Purchses Miami System from Bright House Networks Print E-mail

Multichannel News is reporting that Comcast has purchased Bright House Networks' Miami system that has about 6,600 subscribers.  The total sum of the sale was not disclosed.   Article by Mike Farrell.
 
Brookline MA Votes for Preliminary Denial of Comcast Franchise Print E-mail

Summary of Boston Globe article: Brookline, MA appears to be following the path of Framingham, MA by its recent  preliminary assessment of denial for Comcast's license renewal proposal.  Points of disagreement include discounts for senior citizens and  funding for local origination programming.   While Brookline says they are getting less, Comcast  says the marketplace has changed, and that they have agreed to the funding for Brookline Access TV.  Full article.
