Update: Channel 16 starting covering this important board meeting after the Indianapolis Star article on September 2, 2002.  Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this happen.

Ever wondered what goes on at a Capital Improvement Board (CIB) Meeting?  We wondered why it, unlike other meetings, was not covered by Channel 16.  We were told that Channel 16 had offered to cover the meetings, but the Chairman of the Board declined.

Workers' Rights Board Hearing on Brylane Print E-mail

Community Video in Action: Channel 16 wouldn't cover it.  So we did.

On February 26, 2002, Indianapolis Jobs with Justice convened the first Central Indiana Workers' Rights Board hearing. Local Brylane Distribution Center workers and a crowd of more than 100 of their supporters gathered at the Indianapolis Urban League to expose what they describe as a management campaign of fear and intimidation aimed at dissuading them from joining UNITE! (the Union of Needletrades Industrial and Textile Employees).

Indianapolis 2002 Alternative Media Festival: 'Rich Media, Poor Democracy' Print E-mail

At Indianapolis' First Alternative Media Festival in 2002, author and media critic, Dr. Robert W. McChesney, Research Professor in the Institute of Communications at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, spoke on the history of media in the US, and the current anti-democratic effect that corporate media consolidation has on the country.
