FCC Consumer Advisory Committee Meeting on Nov 18 Print E-mail

The 55-member FCC Consumer Advisory Committee meeting on Friday, November 18, 2005 will be covered with a live Realvideo stream at: http://www.fcc.gov/realaudio/#nov18. There will be a one-hour panel on media ownership, scheduled for 11 am to noon, which will include presentations and Q&A with Juan Gonzalez, Hannah Sassaman of Prometheus Radio, Tony Riddle of the Alliance for Community Radio, and David Honig of the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council. Denis Moynihan of Democracy Now! chairs the committee's media working group, that is looking mostly at media ownership rules. CONSUMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO MEET FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2005

Washington, DC ? The Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) will hold its
next meeting on Friday, November 18, 2005, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
at the Commission?s Headquarters Building, 445 12th Street, S.W., Room
TW-C305, Washington, DC 20554. The meeting is open to the public.

The agenda includes:
? Panel discussion on Perspectives on Telecommunications Competition and
Consumers
? Panel discussion on Media Ownership and Consumer Interest
? Recommendation Concerning Consumer Interest Obligations of Digital
Television Broadcasters
? Recommendation Regarding Access to VRS Networks
? Public Participation via New Information and Communication
Technologies at the FCC
? Demonstration of Captioning and DTV

The Tentative Agenda for the meeting is attached.

The CAC is chaired by Shirley Rooker, President of Call For Action, and
is composed of 54 members representing many of the FCC?s constituencies.
The expertise and diversity of the members provide a balanced point of
view as required by the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

The Committee is organized under, and operates in accordance with, the
provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C., App. 2
(1988). Minutes of meetings are available for public inspection at the
FCC and are posted on the Commission's website at www.fcc.gov/cgb/cac.
Meetings are broadcast on the Internet in Real Audio/Real Video format
with captioning at www.fcc.gov/cgb/cac.

Reasonable Accommodation
