Remembering and Reconciling: An Evening in Song Print E-mail

Rev. Sharon White performs at the North United Methodist Church in The synthesis of art and religion finds some of its most dramatic form in African American spirituals and gospel music. This program uses those forms in new musical compositions to foster a sense of community and Christian hope.


This program was part of the 2003 Spirit & Place Festival, and was intended to bring increased awareness to the value of racially diverse experiences.

Donna Stokes-Lucas owner of X-Pression Bookstore and Gallery, perhaps the best-known outlet for African American literature in Indianapolis, offered books and music to complement the musical showcase.  

Participants are also encouraged to continue exploration of the themes presented at the concert.
