Did you know?

A living wage is a wage that allows a full time worker to provide food, housing, health care, childcare, and basic transportation for themselves and their family.

In 1997 in Marion County a full-time working parent with one child needs a wage of $11 an hour to meet this minimal level. With 2 kids they would need $13.50. Costs have risen since then. For additional information see Living Wage for Indianapolis

81 cities and counties have living wage ordinances?

The proposed ordinance for Indianapolis that would require City and County governments to pay their workers, the workers of any contractor they hire, and the workers of any business receiving tax abatements or other subsidies from these governments to pay a living wage.

See how it works for Boston.
