Billy Bragg performing at Indy CD and Vinyl in Broadripple.

Media reform and fair trade were the messages when the Tell Us the Truth Tour stopped in Indianapolis for a concert and press conference on November 12, 2003. Public Access of Indianapolis taped the press conference which was held at Indy CD and Vinyl independent music store in Broad RIpple.  The concert was held at the Vogue Theater.

Listen to Billy Bragg opening the press conference.

Media Coverage

The press conference was arranged by Common Cause Indiana (CCI), with CCI Board Member Nick Hess doing double duty as emcee and Public Access of Indianapolis videographer.  Sara Galer of WISH-TV was the only major Indianapolis  press to cover the Tour's stop in Indianapolis.   She covered both  the afternoon press conference and  the evening concert.  More importantly, she covered both  the music and the message:

"Tell Us The Truth is a tour with a distinct political message: that the media are not doing their job in letting people know what's really going on. This touches a lot of areas: the war in Iraq, the decision by the Federal Communications Commission to relax rules on media ownership, which is now being challenged by Congress after a public outcry, environmental laws being relaxed, American jobs headed overseas as a results of FTAA and NAFTA, and a lot more."

Be sure to check out her stories:
