In Their Own Words...

Robert Pedersen conducted interviews with several protesters before and during the March to the Free Speech Zone at the National Governors Association (NGA) Convergence in Indianapolis. (Free RealMedia compatible audio/video player required.)

Sarah Seeds

Sarah Seeds is a well-known non-violence trainer with the Ruckus Society and talks about the challenges our country's Governors face and why it is important for citizens to make their voices heard by their Governors.  (14 minutes)

Gwen

Gwen, a local social worker and member of the Solidarity Books Collective, gives a disturbing account of pre-protest police surveillance and the warrant-less search and  raid on Solidarity Books. "This sort of surveillance and intimidation can only be meant to try to chill our speech." (9:44 minutes)

Gwen, a local leader of the protests

Sunset

Sunset is a member of the Chicago Medical Action, a grassroots street medic organization that provides first aid services at demonstrations and civic disturbances.  First aid may be required for a variety of reasons such as exposure to extreme weather or injuries from police tactics.  Street medic organizations are important because ambulances typically will not enter a scene that is not secure.  (4 minutes)
