Voices of Hope: Veteran Stories of Faith & Healing Print E-mail

Part of the 2003 Spirit and Place FestivalHow does spirituality help us recover from trauma -- in particular, the trauma of being a war veteran?  As part of the 2003 Spirit & Place Festival, Indiana author, Diana J. Ensign, moderates a panel who share their stories of healing.  Ensign received an Arts In Indiana grant for her book project,  Voices of Hope: Veteran Stories of Faith & Healing.

The program was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church and featured:

  • Donnie Robinette, a former homeless veteran who does street outreach
  • Darel Lindquist, a veteran who uses music and poetry to both remember and reconcile his combat experiences
  • Joan Crane
  • Chaplain William Overby, who works with veterans at the VA Medical Center
  • Elizabeth Weber, Professor of English at the University of Indianapolis, whose brother died in Vietnam
